Student Training Days

MIST provide training sessions for healthcare students to ensure, as future healthcare professionals, they are informed about the common, but often minimised, issues of pregnancy loss, infertility and childlessness.

Many newly qualified healthcare professionals state that they do not receive adequate training on these important issues. Our academically informed workshops are particularly suitable for those seeking careers in health and social care, including:

  • Midwifery

  • Nursing

  • Paramedic Science

  • Medicine

  • Occupational Therapy

Our training teaches future healthcare professionals:

  • The pervasiveness of these issues (definitions, statistics and prevalence).

  • How to effectively communicate and support affected patients through language skills training.

  • The stigma and taboo surrounding these experiences.

  • The significant impact of these reproductive issues, including mental health illness.

  • Appropriate terminology to use when discussing these health issues.

  • The implications of pro-natal assumptions.

All sessions facilitate a discursive and pragmatic element.
